The incoming head of the Federal Communications Commission made a big statement with the announcement of his team, who include Eddie Lazarus as Chief of Staff. The Los Angeles-based Lazarus made headlines in 2005 with his Kitty Kelley take on the U.S. Supreme Court, Closed Chambers. Cloistered former high court clerks, justices and staff were quick to take issue with his rather excellent kiss and tell. He’s most recently been head of litigation for Akin Gump.
Genakowski himself is an interesting choice to head the FCC, given that he actually has relevant experience (GC of the FCC under Reed Hundt, and then a turn in business at IAC/Interactive Corp., with dotcoms and founding Rock Creek Ventures). http://paidcontent.org/article/419-industry-moves-new-fcc-head-genachowski-appoints-staff/
Others named by Genachowski today include: legal advisor Sherrese Smith (former VP and GC of the Washington Post); special assistant Daniel Ornstein (CBS Mobile and Click.TV); senior counselor Colin Crowell (U.S. Rep. Edward Markey); chief counsel and senior legal advisor Bruce Liang Gottlieb (legal advisor to acting FCC chairman Michael Copps); and legal advisor Priya Aiyar (Kellogg Huber).
